This is my first book. It’s a fiction which channels my love of history (I used to be a history teacher) into an exciting time travel adventure to Roman Britain.

The blurb:

Retired history teacher Charlie is looking for a new project but gets a lot more than he bargained for when he finds his new shed is possessed by the spirit of Gustin, a young apprentice druid from the first century AD. Gustin persuades Charlie to come back in time to Roman Britain, where he wants his help investigating why he died. This extraordinary trip becomes yet more intense when they come across a secret youth organisation led by Gustin’s childhood friend.
Central Britain has been at peace since Boudicca’s revolt some forty years before but now his group is plotting another rebellion. The elders are alarmed, most are prospering under Roman rule and they’ll try to stop their frustrated offspring in any way they can. Charlie is horrified when he realises that he has something the rebels badly want, all he wants now is to get back to his own time, where his family have only just discovered his disappearance. A nerve-shredding sequence of adventures follows, which finally culminate in the most dramatic discovery of all back in the 21st century.

A selection from the reviews (Full reviews available on Amazon)

This is a very enjoyable book. The characters are well-developed and the plot is dynamic and gripping I really enjoyed how the author carries the momentum of the narrative through the exciting developments and plot twists. I found myself eager to read another chapter and found the plot gripping and the book almost unputdownable, much like some very well-established authors. D.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book which starts in the present day but in which the main character, Charlie, is transported via his shed to Roman Britain. The story is a whodunnit and manages to impart a lot of information about Romano-British life with a light touch.
Dialogue is cleverly used to move the action along and there are humorous asides from the main character which make him believable.
A good read!

With a plot worthy of Doctor Who, engaging characters and a minimalist but sharp dialogue, the book grabs the reader, embarks on a roller-coaster ride across millennia, adds a few twists, leaving the reader pondering and hoping for more. I.

The story rolls along at a lively pace, constantly keeping you guessing. It's imaginative, playful and handles big themes with a light touch and subtle humour. P.

A joyous, playful yet instructive, historical whodunnit through Roman Britain. Trigg grabs your attention and keeps it throughout, blending a gentle humour with a cracking detective story. I wish history had been like this when I was at school! S.
